"To feel easy when being shortchanged" is a kind of practice
The world has now entered the era that Dharma is going to extinguish, and the time is just in the "Decreasing kalpa", therefore people"s minds are becoming more and more evil and hypocritical, morals and ethics are gradually collapsing, people are always angry, and they argue or fight with each other at every turn. If we can practice in a harsh environment, although the practicing is difficult, but we will progress very fast. And, because people become selfish, they tend to only care about their own immediate interests and do not give in to each other, no one is willing to be shortchanged. In fact, "learning to feel easy when being shortchanged" is also considered as a kind of practice. After being shortchanged, if someone can deal with it peacefully ,we call this man "a real practitioner".
When we get along with others or deal with various things, if the benefits we get are lower than our expectations or below the general average, we will think that we get the short end of the stick. The first benefit of learning to feel easy when being shortchanged is that it can resolve conflicts, because we don’t fight with others, therefore we won’t be angry or dissatisfied. If others take advantage, they are busy in being complacent and won’t lose their temper, so things will be done peacefully. Secondly, when we take advantage of others, we will feel guilty and be afraid of being discovered by others, or be afraid of that our advantage will be taken back, or the one we take advantage of will go back to revenge on us, then, we will surely be unable to calm our minds; if we are willing to be shortchanged, we will find that others will not be dissatisfied, we can keep our mind calm, and a calm mind is helpful for our practice. Also, learning to feel easy when being shortchanged is actually practicing "not being greedy." People tend to account for how much money, reputation, power, or "the attention of the people of the opposite sex" they can get after completing something; those who are willing to feel easy when being shortchanged will not take these benefits too seriously, and this is a kind of practice. Learning to be shortchanged is also cultivating blessings for ourselves. why? When someone sees that we have been shortchanged but does not care, he will think that we are generous-minded people, and if there is a chance in the future, he will think of us first. In addition, being taken advantage of by others, in the future, perhaps in this life, or in the next lives, according to the law of causes and effects, they will still have to pay us back. And, because we have been shortchanged but are not angry, we can develop good relationships with others. these are all cultivating our blessings.
Whether we are willing to be shortchanged when encountering a critical situation is a good opportunity to test our practice. When someone doesn't get angry, and his mind is calm after being shortchanged, it's related to compassion and meditation. Not to care how much benefit he will get, he is cultivating "not greed." Sometimes a person feel easy when being shortchanged, and he will be laughed at by others, at this time, it is related to “Forbearance”.
As the saying goes: "When God closes a door, he opens a window". From a long-term perspective, people who care about how much benefit they can get and who use such judgments to deal with things actually lose more because they live in constant calculations and They can’t really feel happy. Learning to be willing to feel easy when being shortchanged perhaps will make us lose some benefits, but we can get other more precious things. This should be the best interpretation of "being shortchanged is taking advantage"!
