How to treat suffering and deal with suffering?

As the saying goes: "Unsatisfactory things in life account for eight or nine out of ten." Especially in the world of  five chaos we now live in, setbacks and unsatisfaction often bring different kinds of suffering to all living beings, leading to a continuous increase in suicide rates throughout the world. Indeed, we can say with certainty: There is no eternally happy life; but no matter what, sentient beings still hope to be able to leave pain and be happy forever. By exploring and understanding the nature and source of pain, we can face pain more calmly and then, further eliminate pain.

Buddhism says that there are 84,000 kinds of suffering and annoyances that sentient beings have; sentient beings have been suffered from suffering since they were born: they are hungry and cannot solve it by themselves, so they can only express it by crying; some people are born in poor families; for the foods of three meals, they need to work continuously to maintain food and clothing. Sometimes bad luck can cause various diseases, some can be cured after a few days, and some can last for several weeks or months, and even cause permanent physical damage; after growing up a little bit, people start to fall in love: The people they love don’t love them; the originally intimate love partners change their love of us to the love of others, or the parents disagree with their choice of love partners; all of these will make them feel pain; and then, they need to start choosing a career: starting to bear various social pressures and the instability of the political environment, these things make them unable to be happy; and next, they have to pay for the family's livelihood; as time progresses, they begin to age bit by bit. When their health problems arise, various diseases and pains follow; and then, in the end, people have to face death. This is the general situation of life's pain. In addition to these unavoidable pains, there are countless anger, quarrels, accidents, natural disasters, wars, grief, jealousy, etc. that surround our lives.

Is there any way to get us out of these pains? In fact, "getting away from pain" is the purpose of Buddhism. When we are in pain, Buddhist meditation methods can temporarily relieve our pain; by focusing on our own breath, it can help us not to focus our mind on painful things; also, to insight “the impermanence of the world”, “the essence of all things is emptiness”, and “the “non-self (self are not really existent)” can temporarily alleviate our pain at present, even if we have not yet really enlightened.

Secondly, in the long run, we should avoid creating more future pain for ourselves, so we must believe in the theory of karma —— if we create the cause of suffering, we will get the effect of suffering, so don’t do things that are against morality, conscience and law. "Reduce desires" can also reduce the chance of suffering. A lot of suffering is caused by desire. Moreover, we have to do more good deeds to accumulate blessings.

We should let the past painful experience become the driving force for us to seek getting relief; because we are tired of getting pain passively, we should turn to be more proactive to eliminate the pain; we should understand the source of the pain and then cut it off to seek the cessation of all pain. According to the Buddha’s teachings, craving and ignorance (not knowing the Reality of all things) are the roots of all suffering. By cutting off all cravings, greed, and by the "wisdom of the truth of life in the universe" obtained by practicing Buddhism, then we can eliminate craving and ignorance, and get away from all suffering.

In addition, we should also allow our suffering to sublimate, not only to be free from suffering by ourselves, but also to make a vow that wish all sentient beings can be free from suffering. When we understand that our own suffering and the suffering of sentient beings are illusions, we are free from all suffering and become an enlightened person.

The purpose of Buddhism is to let all sentient beings get away from pain and get happiness. Maybe some people don't believe in the efficacy of the Buddhist Dharma, and we should try to open our hearts and start practicing Buddhism. This is just the best way to verify Buddhist Dharma.
