Those who made bad karma do not believe cause, effect and retribution

Some people do not believe in past and future life, even stubbornly believe that the idea of cause, effect, and retribution is a tool that religion uses to persuade people to do good; because, in their experience, the people who made bad karma never get the corresponding bad retribution, therefore they think that morality is only a tool that society uses to restrict people and they do not believe that the origin of morality is about good and evil. In fact, they do not care about good and evil, and they will do or support any thing or idea if it can increase their own advantages.

From the Buddhist point of view, they are lack of wisdom; they cannot see where people are before they were born and where people will go after they die, therefore they think there is nothing after the death and the cycle of birth and death does not exist; and they see bad men who violate the morality but enjoy the fame and richness, therefore they hastily conclude that there is no karmic retribution in the world, and they even make bad karma by themselves. In fact, the retribution of good and evil really exist; those people who enjoy fame and richness rely only on the blessings they have cultivated in their past lives and enjoy the fame and wealth in this life. When their blessing is exhausted, they will have to pay the painful price for the bad karmas they do in this life. Those who are lack of wisdom only see a part of the whole event and stubbornly think it is the rule of the world, denying the rule of cause and effect because of their ignorance and short-sightedness, and even committing the bad things that will make themselves painful in the future. What pitiful persons!

Not to believe cause, effect and retribution seems to be a small deal in life, but it can profoundly affect our behaviors and values. Because they are not afraid of the retribution of making bad karmas, they do not care whether they have done anything that is harmful to other people and benefit themselves. They do things by fair means or foul and only care about achieving their desired goals, never consider whether their actions cause pain or worry to others. Even if they cause other people the tiniest uncomfort or trouble, it is regarded as a bad karma, not to mention causing more pain or death to others.

Some people think they are clever and always deceive others by lying and cunning. They do not know that they can fool others for one time, they can not fool others for a lifetime; even if they can fool others for a lifetime, they can not fool the karma. They may be happy when they cheat others successfully, but when the retribution ripes, the pain and annoyance they made to others will return to them.

The health of the people who always want to hurt others and benefit themselves will be affected by retribution and gradually become weak after their blessing is exhausted. Even if some of them is still happy, don't worry, their next lives will not be so easy.

How to correct such a mistake? We must regret of making the bad karmas by not believing in cause and effect and determine to stop doing things that harm others and benefit ourselves, start believing in karma, start doing good, persuade others to do good, accumulate some blessings for our own future, if possible, accumulate some blessings for future practice -- contacting the Dharma. It will be better than continuing to be obstinate or wait for retribution without doing anything.
